Laurence of Canterbury was Augustine's successor as archbishop. He was a member of the Gregorian mission sent by Pope Gregory I to convert the Anglo-Saxons to Christianity. After Augustine's death in 604, Laurence became the second archbishop of Canterbury. He continued Augustine's work of converting the Anglo-Saxons and is credited with converting King Eadbald of Kent.
