Lucius Domitius Aurelianus was the birth name of Aurelian. Aurelian was born in Sirmium, in the Roman province of Pannonia Inferior, in 214 AD. Aurelian was a soldier who rose through the ranks of the Roman army. He became emperor in 270 AD and ruled until his death in 275 AD. Aurelian was a successful military leader and he restored the unity of the Roman Empire.
