Aziz Sancar currently teaches at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He has been a professor at the school since 1993. Sancar is a Turkish-American molecular biologist and biochemist. He is best known for his work on DNA repair, which he shared the 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Tomas Lindahl and Paul Modrich.
