Yediyurappa was elected from the Shikaripura constituency eight times. He was first elected to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly in 1983 and has been re-elected eight times since then. He has served as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on four occasions, from 1994 to 1996, 2007 to 2011, 2012 to 2013, and 2018 to 2019. He is the longest-serving Chief Minister of Karnataka in the state's history.
