The Báb was 30 years old when he was executed by the Persian government on July 9, 1850. He had been imprisoned for four years and was subjected to torture and abuse. His execution sparked a series of uprisings in Iran and other parts of the world, and led to the eventual establishment of the Bahá'í Faith.
