At what age was Baldwin's leprosy diagnosed?

  • At his birth

  • At twenty-five

  • Upon his father's death

  • During his teen years

Answer

Baldwin IV was the leprous King of Jerusalem from 1174 to 1185. He was born in 1161 and his father, Amalric I, died in 1174. Baldwin's leprosy was diagnosed upon his father's death. He was a weak king and was unable to defend the Kingdom of Jerusalem against the invading Muslim forces. He was eventually succeeded by his brother, Guy of Lusignan.
