Despite his illness, Baldwin IV was able to fight in battles until his last years. The King of Jerusalem was afflicted with leprosy from a young age, but this did not stop him from leading his armies to victory in numerous battles. Baldwin's most famous victory was at the Battle of Montgisard in 1177, when he defeated a larger army of Egyptian and Syrian forces.
