Jersey Joe Walcott, an American boxer, reigned as the World Welterweight Champion from 1945 to 1950. Walcott won the championship by defeating Sugar Ray Robinson by decision in 15 rounds in June 1947. He defended the title four times before losing it to Robinson by knockout in the 14th round in June 1950.
