Senator Ben Cardin has represented Maryland in the United States Senate since 2007. Prior to that, he had an extensive political career, serving as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, and as Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates. A Democrat, Cardin also held the position of Baltimore's City Council president.
