Who did Benjamin Constant support during the Hundred Days?

  • Napoleon

  • Louis XVIII

  • Charles X

  • Louis Philippe I

Answer

During the Hundred Days, Benjamin Constant supported Napoleon Bonaparte. He had previously been opposed to Napoleon's authoritarian rule, but he came to believe that Napoleon was the best chance for France to maintain its independence and glory against the encroaching forces of the Seventh Coalition. Constant's support for Napoleon was not unwavering, however, and he eventually broke with him after the Battle of Waterloo.
