Tarquinius Priscus became the first Etruscan king of Rome. He ruled for about 38 years from 616 to 578 BC. He was a member of the Tarquinii family and was a popular ruler who expanded the city and built new temples and buildings. However, he was also known for his cruelty and his murder of Servius Tullius, the last king of Rome.
