Bill Mallon was a versatile sportsman, competing in rugby, cricket and golf. He was the first player to represent England at all three sports. He played rugby for Cambridge University, England and the Barbarians. He played cricket for Cambridge University and England, and captained the England cricket team on two occasions. He also played golf, and won the Open Championship in 1902.
