As a player, he was a second baseman for the New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Athletics, and Minnesota Twins. He was a five-time All-Star and won the World Series with the Yankees in 1953 and 1956. As a manager, he led the Yankees to the World Series in 1976 and 1977.
