Bob Carr served as foreign minister in the governments of both Julia Gillard and Kevin Rudd. He was appointed to the role in June 2010 by Gillard, who had just become prime minister after the resignation of Kevin Rudd. Carr remained in the role when Rudd returned to the prime ministership in June 2013, but resigned in September of that year.
