Paisley joined Liverpool in 1939, aged 17. He was a local lad who had come through the ranks of the club's youth system. He made his first-team debut in 1945 and went on to play over 350 games for the club. He was a versatile player who could play in a number of positions, including centre-half, full-back and wing-half.
