Mykola Lyatoshynsky was born on 3 January 1895 in Poltava, Russian Empire (present-day Ukraine). He was a Ukrainian composer, conductor, and musicologist. He is considered to be one of the most important composers of Ukrainian classical music. His works include operas, ballets, symphonies, concertos, and chamber music. He died in Kyiv on 17 April 1968.
