Answer
Lyatoshynsky taught orchestration at the Moscow Conservatory from 1935 to 1944. This was during a time when the Soviet Union was undergoing a period of political and social upheaval, and the arts were heavily censored. Lyatoshynsky was able to use his position at the Conservatory to promote his own music and the music of other Ukrainian composers. He also helped to establish a Ukrainian music school in Moscow.
