Myroslav Skoryk and Valentyn Sylvestrov were two of the most prominent Ukrainian composers influenced by Lyatoshynsky. Skoryk was a student of Lyatoshynsky's at the Kharkiv Conservatory and went on to become one of the most successful Ukrainian composers of the 20th century. His compositions were often based on Ukrainian folk music and he was known for his lyrical melodies and rich harmonies.
