Who did Brian Sandoval defeat in the general election of 2010 for the governor's position?

  • Rory Reid

  • Bob Goodman

  • Steve Sisolak

  • Jim Gibbons

Answer

In the 2010 Nevada gubernatorial election, Republican Brian Sandoval defeated Democrat Rory Reid, the son of Senator Harry Reid, to become the first Republican governor of the state since 1999. Sandoval's victory was attributed to his strong support among Hispanic voters, as well as his ability to appeal to independent voters. Sandoval took office on January 3, 2011, and was re-elected in 2014.
