British Airways is a founding member of the Oneworld airline alliance, which was established in 1999. Other founding members include American Airlines, the now-defunct Canadian Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and Qantas. Oneworld has since grown to become the third-largest airline alliance, after SkyTeam and Star Alliance.
