Agnolo Bronzino (1503-72) was an Italian painter of the Florentine High Renaissance. He was a pupil of Jacopo Pontormo and his most significant employer was Cosimo I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. Bronzino's paintings are characterized by their realism and use of bright colors. He is best known for his portraits of the Medici family, including Cosimo I and his wife Eleonora of Toledo.
