Buck Ruxton was executed by hanging on 23 August 1936 at Lancaster Castle for the murder of his wife Mary and his maidmaid Isabella. The execution was carried out by Albert Pierrepoint, who later became the most prolific hangman in Britain's history. Ruxton's body was buried in the prison grounds.
