Caresse Crosby was born in 1892 in New York City. She was an American writer, poet, publisher, and socialite. She is best known for her work with her husband Harry Crosby, with whom she founded the Black Sun Press in Paris in 1922. The press published works by James Joyce, Ezra Pound, and other modernist writers.
