Carl Czerny was an Austrian pianist, composer, teacher, and music theorist who was born in Vienna on January 26, 1791. He is considered to be one of the most important piano teachers of the 19th century, and his teaching methods are still used today. Czerny's compositions include over 1,000 piano pieces, as well as chamber music, orchestral works, and songs. He died in Vienna on July 15, 1857.
