Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker was a German physicist and philosopher. He is known for his work on nuclear physics, quantum mechanics, and the philosophy of science. In 1939, he helped to develop the first atomic bomb, but later became a vocal opponent of nuclear weapons. He was also a member of the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs.
