At the time of his death in 1831, Carl von Clausewitz held the rank of Major General in the Prussian army. He had served in the military for over 30 years, participating in numerous campaigns and rising through the ranks. Despite his accomplishments and contributions to military strategy and theory, he never achieved the rank of General.
