Parreira has won one Copa América tournament. He coached the Brazil national team to victory in the 1999 edition of the tournament, which was held in Paraguay. Brazil finished top of the group stage before defeating Argentina on penalties in the quarterfinals and Mexico in the semifinals. In the final, Brazil defeated Uruguay 3–0 to claim the title.
