The New York Red Bulls, formerly known as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars, were managed by the Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz during an 18-month spell from 1996 to 1997. Queiroz was the head coach of the Major League Soccer side and oversaw the team's performances during the 1996 and 1997 seasons.
