Charles de Foucauld was ordained in 1901. He was a French Catholic priest and mystic who lived among the Tuareg people in the Sahara Desert. He was ordained at the age of 43 after a long period of searching for his vocation. He was inspired by the life of Jesus Christ and sought to live a life of simplicity and poverty, sharing the life of the people he lived among.
