Charles-Louis Philippe was born in August of 1720. The son of Louis I and Marie Louise Élisabeth d’Orléans, he held the title of Duke of Anjou until becoming king of France in 1715 at the age of five. He suffered from serious health problems due to inbreeding, which resulted in his death in 1746 without a legitimate heir.
