Charles II is also known as Charles the Bald, who was the King of West Francia from 843 to 877. He was a member of the Carolingian dynasty and was the son of Louis the Pious and Judith of Bavaria. Charles the Bald was also the Holy Roman Emperor from 875 until his death in 877. He was succeeded by his son, Louis the Stammerer.
