Charles the Bold was the Duke of Burgundy from 1467 to 1477. He was the last of the Valois Dukes of Burgundy and the last male member of the Valois-Burgundy dynasty. Charles was a skilled military leader and expanded the Duchy of Burgundy to its greatest extent. He was also a patron of the arts and literature.
