The Social Democratic Party (SDP) was a British political party formed in 1981 by a group of Labour Party MPs who opposed the policies of Then Labour Prime Minister, James Callaghan. The SDP was initially led by former Labour Party leader, Roy Jenkins, and included other prominent Labour figures such as Shirley Williams and David Owen.
