Christian VIII was the King of Denmark and Norway from 1839 to 1848. He was born on January 18, 1786, as Hereditary Prince Frederick. His father was King Frederick VI and his mother was Queen Marie Sophie. Christian VIII married Princess Caroline Amalie of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg in 1815. They had five children, including King Frederick VII. Christian VIII died on January 20, 1848.
