Chulalongkorn, or Rama V, was King of Siam from 1868 to 1910. He is considered one of the greatest Thai kings and earned the epithet of "The Great Beloved King" during his reign. Chulalongkorn was a progressive monarch who abolished slavery, introduced modern education, and expanded Siam's borders. He is also credited with laying the foundation for Thailand's modern state.
