The Flying Tigers, officially known as the 1st American Volunteer Group (AVG) of the Chinese Air Force, were a group of American pilots who fought against the Japanese during World War II. Led by Claire Chennault, the AVG was credited with destroying over 200 Japanese aircraft in just seven months. The group was disbanded in July 1942, but its members continued to serve in the United States Army Air Forces.
