Clarence White passed away on July 15, 1973. A founding member and lead guitarist of The Byrds, White innovated guitar techniques that greatly influenced future musicians, including playing string bends with the fretting hand thumb rather than fingers and developing the "B-bender" guitar. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.
