Britannicus was the older brother of Claudia and was born to the same parents. He was a popular figure in Rome and was considered to be a potential successor to his father, Emperor Claudius. However, he was poisoned by his stepmother, Agrippina the Younger, in order to clear the way for her son, Nero, to become emperor.
