In 2016, Claudio Bravo completed his transfer from FC Barcelona to Manchester City. The transfer fee was reported to be in the region of £17 million, with Bravo signing a four-year contract with the club. He was brought in to provide competition for then-first-choice goalkeeper Joe Hart and made his debut for City in a 2–1 win over Steaua București in the UEFA Champions League on 14 September 2016.
