Clement VII faced many challenges during his reign, one of which was the difficulty in uniting Christendom during crisis situations. During his time as Pope, there was a split in the Catholic Church between the pro-French and pro-Spanish factions. Clement VII was caught in the middle of this conflict and was unable to unite the Church.
