Pope Innocent IX was succeeded by Pope Clement VIII. Clement VIII was elected to the papacy in 1592 after the death of Innocent IX. His reign lasted until 1605, during which time he oversaw the completion of the Sistine Chapel ceiling and the publication of the Vulgate Bible.
