Columbanus was an Irish monk who founded several monasteries in western Europe in the 6th century. He never traveled to Russia, which was at that time inhabited by pagan Slavs and other tribes. His monasteries were founded in Gaul (present-day France), Italy, Switzerland, and Germany.
