Columbia Pictures was founded on June 19, 1918, by brothers Jack and Harry Cohn and their business partner Joe Brandt as Cohn-Brandt-Cohn (CBC) Film Sales Corporation. It later adopted the Columbia Pictures name on January 10, 1924.
