Constance Markievicz was a founding member of the Irish political party Fianna Fáil. She was also a member of the Irish Republican Army and was imprisoned for her role in the 1916 Easter Rising. After her release from prison, she served as a member of the first Dáil Éireann and was later elected to the Seanad Éireann.
