Who overthrew and assassinated Constans in 350?

  • Magnentius

  • Julian

  • Constantius

  • Maxentius

Answer

Magnentius, a Roman general, overthrew and assassinated Constans in 350. Magnentius had been loyal to Constantius II, the older brother of Constans, but he turned against him when he felt that Constantius II was not giving him enough credit for his military victories. Magnentius declared himself emperor in 350 and defeated Constans in battle. He then had Constans assassinated.
