Cory Schneider began his NHL career in the 2008–09 season, playing for the Vancouver Canucks. He was selected by the Canucks in the first round, 26th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He played collegiate hockey at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he was named the 2008 WCHA Player of the Year.
