Wade Redden was the captain of the Ottawa Senators before Daniel Alfredsson. Alfredsson succeeded Redden as captain in 1999, after Redden was traded to the New York Rangers. Alfredsson held the captaincy for 13 seasons, becoming the longest-serving captain in Senators history.
