At age 34, Daniele De Rossi announced his retirement from international football on 23 May 2018, after a meeting with Italy coach Roberto Mancini. He made his senior international debut in 2004, and went on to make 117 appearances for Italy. He was part of the Italy squad that won the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and also represented his country at two UEFA European Championships.
