Jodi Rell defeated Dannel Malloy's competitor in the 2006 general elections for Governor. She was the 88th Governor of Connecticut from 2004 to 2011, and served as Connecticut's first female Governor. Rell was elected as Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut in 2002 and became Governor upon the resignation of Governor John Rowland. She was defeated in her re-election bid in 2010 by Dannel Malloy.
