The dispute over Gibson's national team affiliation was settled in 2010. In 2008, Gibson had played for the United States in the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Doha, Qatar. However, he had also represented Jamaica in the 2009 World Championships in Athletics in Berlin, Germany. In October 2010, the IAAF decided that Gibson was eligible to compete for Jamaica.
